This site is concerned with family and social history in the Hundred of Frome. This consisted of the parishes of Beckington, Berkley, Cloford, Elm, Frome Selwood, Laverton, Lullington, Marston Bigot, Nunney, Orchardleigh, Rode (Road), Rodden, Standerwick, Wanstrow, Whatley and Woolverton. It also included the adjacent Liberties of East Cranmore, Leigh upon Mendip, Mells and Witham Friary and the Peculiar of Buckland Dinham (see map).

Most of the data assembled in these pages have been contributed by researchers with particular interests in Frome and nearby villages. We should be grateful for any corrections or further contributions, which could be marriages, leases, wills and other sources which link members of different families or material about a local individual or family you have researched.

All due care has been taken with transcription, but data on this site should be treated with the same caution as from any other derivative source: where possible, check primary sources. In some cases you can verify data by emailing submitters.
