Our policy is to connect events to locations that existed in 1900. In the case of Victoria County/City of Kawartha Lakes this means employing the former title. However, there are going to be users who will think of using Kawartha Lakes first.

I would like to make this page into an ordinary redirect, but some explanation really needs to be left on the page.

Secondly, the title of the page is incorrect. Kawartha Lakes is not in Victoria County, it is Victoria County. --goldenoldie 02:42, 5 August 2012 (EDT)

Let's think of this not so much as "policy", but as "convention". Conventions guide us in what to do when there are several equally correct general alternatives or approaches. In the mechanical world, we have the righty-tighty and lefty-loosy "convention". Ontario way of saying "unitary" is "single tier". If we ever get more Canadians on WR it might be wise to think their way.

I am still considering the whole problem of the City of Kawartha Lakes. No conclusions as yet. There is a note in Wikipedia as to how close the local vote was on accepting City of KL as the new name along with the whole kit and caboodle of a single tier administration. Interesting. Probably went through because too many people in rural areas didn't get around to driving miles to a polling booth.
