From The Gazetteer for Scotland

Sarclet is a linear crofting township on the east coast of Caithness. It is located 5 miles (8 km) south of Wick. Once a safe natural harbour for local fishing boats, the clifftop settlement was developed in the early 19th century by David Brodie of Hopeville, who was the tenant of Sir John Sinclair of Ulbster (1754 - 1835). Sarclet Head extends into the sea a half-mile (1 km) to the southeast.
