Porten Settlement was in Woodstock Parish, Carleton County, New Brunswick, and located on the Eel River, 3.93 km north-northeast of Scott Siding. Porton post office existed 1892-1904 with John Porter as first postmaster. The Porter and Dickinson families were some of the first families to settle in the area. in 1898 Porton was a small settlement with 1 post office and a population of 50: Porten Settlement became part of Riceville.
