"Red Bank" is the name of an historical community active during the early settlement period of Augusta County (now Shannandoah County). The closest modern community is "Readus", about 3 miles from Columbia Furnace, and about 12 miles from Strasburg. Red Bank (or Red Banks) is referred to as a place name a number of times in Chalkley's Chronicles, as lying on the South River of the "Shanando" River.
