The following description from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72 is provided by the website A Vision of Britain Through Time (University of Portsmouth Department of Geography).

"BERWICK (Great and Little), a township in Shrewsbury St. Mary parish, Salop; on the river Severn, 2 miles NW of Shrewsbury. Berwick House here is the seat of the Hon. H. W. Powys. Little Berwick is also a chapelry. Pop., 325. The living is a [perpetual] curacy in the diocese of Lichfield. Value: £54. Patrons: the Earl of Tankerville and others. The church was repaired in 1859."
