General Info
- Carillon was a village in the historical county of Argenteuil.
- The village of Carillon was established on 20 Sep 1887[1]
- On 29 Dec 1999, Carillon, Saint-André-d'Argenteuil, and Saint-André-Est merged to become the municipality of Saint-André-d'Argenteuil. This new municipality is currently located in the Regional County Municipality of Argenteuil, Laurentides, Québec, Canada.[2]
- "CARILLON, a pretty village in Argenteuil co., Que., situated on the Ottawa River, at the mouth of the Grenville Canal, 42 miles from Montreal, 4 miles from St. Philippe. It is a port of landing of the Ottawa steamers and southeast terminus of the C.& G.R., and has a Roman Catholic church, 1 hotel, 2 stores. It is an old settled village with some historical notoriety in connection with the rebellion of 1838. On Isle aux Chats, 1 mile back of the village, there is a woollen factory. Pop. 255."
