William Smith was baptised on 10th June 1821 at Norton in Hertfordshire, son of Ann Smith, formerly Moles, and her husband Samuel Smith, a labourer.

William married an Elizabeth and settled at Stotfold in Bedfordshire, where he worked as a publican. The 1881 census finds him living with his wife, children and elderly father at The Chequers public house.

William has yet to be researched after 1881.
