    William J "Jennings" Bryan

    Services for William J. "Jennings" Bryan, 93, Scranton, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Free Methodist Church in Scranton. Burial will be in the Scranton Cemetery.
    Mr. Bryan died Tuesday at an Overbrook nursing home.

    He was born March 9, 1897, in the Fountain Ridge community north of Burlingame. He farmed between Scranton and Carbondale, and later farmed southeast of Melvern. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I and a life member of the Free Methodist Church in Scranton.

    He was married to Sylvia Fay Sell on Nov. 2, 1921. She died in 1967. His second wife, Farrell Sedgwick Bryan, died in 1977.

    Survivors include three sons, Bill, of Lawrence, Charles, Battle Ground, Ind., and James, Scranton; a daughter, Nina Kiefer, Scranton; two brothers, John O., Burlingame, and Emery C., Erie; 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
