Former Resident Dies at Mesick, is Buried Here
Virgil Splitstone, formerly of this community, passed away at the home of friends near Mesick Monday. He was nearly 65 years of age. Mr. Splitstone was born on a farm ear Woosster in December, 1867, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Splitstone. He spent his young manhood in this vicinity but most of his adult life has been spent in the northern part of Michigan. He worked in the lumber woods for many years.
He is survived by four brothers, Allen, Roy and Ray of this city and Leslie of Mason county, and two sisters, Mrs. Edith Vandenberg of Grand Rapids and Mrs. Minnie Reed of Baldwin.
The body was brought here and funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Congregational Church, the Rev. A.E. Gray officiating. Interment took place in Maple Grove cemetery.
