Thomas TEMPLE was born on April 20, 1772 in PA. Edmund Rice Genealogy gives September 9, 1770 and Concord, MA. However, this appears to be a confusion of Thomases. Also, his gravestone indicates he "Died August 9, 1845, age 73 years, 3 months, 20 days." The grave marker thus yields a birth date of April 20, 1772, but this is likely to be an error as it is to be correct, as the family did not know much about him. His birthplace was given by his son Lewis in the 1880 census as NY, but his other children gave, variously VA, MD, OH, and NJ. The assertion of his origin in PA is based only on his son Joseph's claim in 1850, and is at best a possibly inaccurate and as yet unprovable assertiion. He Moved before 1828 in Norwich Twp., Franklin Twp., OH. He Moved in 1834/5 in Jackson Twp., Union, OH. Purchased land in Union County on February 18, 1840. Thomas died on August 9, 1845 at the , Union OH. Buried in TEMPLE family cemetery plot on the land he purchased in Union Co., OH in 1840. The primary genealogist on this line is Ethel Temple-Jensen, deceased. In he book, Temple/McNulty Genealogy, she made clear that the relationship of Thomas to his ancestors is yet to be proven. Furthermore, it was her belief that Thomas' parents were in Pennsylvania, and that Thomas went to Ohio by way of Virginia. The earliest documented fact she had on Thomas was his purchase of a plot of land on July 11, 1829 in Norwich Township, Franklin, Ohio.
