PROMINENT WORCESTER GIRL MISSING

WORCESTER. Mass., June 9.-Sally Aldrich Wardwell, granddaughter of the late Judge P. Emory Aldrich, has gone away from her home while laboring under a temporary mental nervousness. She was nineteen years old, and attended the Moody School, at Northfield. Worry over her studies caused her to break down, and she came home Tuesday in the care of a nurse. Some time early yesterday morning she went away, leaving a note in which she said she was going to look for work. Since then she has not been heard from. The police have sent out circulars giving descriptions of her. Her father, who is now dead, was William T. Wardwell of Newton. -New York Times 11 June 1899

Aldrich last Thursday, was found last night and returned to her relatives. The girl ran away from her home because she feared everyone know of her backwardness in study at the Northfield seminary. She walked to a farmhouse about seven miles from the city and answered an advertisement to do housework.
