Sarah A. (DePalo) Gauthier, 81, of 298 Orange St., died Thursday at home. She was a waitress in the YMCA cafeteria and retired in 1962. She worked previously for the former F.W. Sickles Co. of Chicopee. Born in Hudson Falls, N.Y., she was a lifelong resident of Springfield and a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 70 and was a past commander. She leaves her husband of 59 years, Raymond Gauthier; two daughters, Diane Cardin of West Springfield and Joyce Seekins of West Swanton, Vt.; a brother, Thomas DePalo of Holyoke; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Monday morning at Forastiere Funeral Home and the church, with burial in St. Michael's Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday afternoon and evening.
