  2. ↑ There are two cousins named Sarah Butterworth that are very close in age: daughter of Benjamin and daughter of Joseph. Unfortunately, neither one is noticed except for their birth in the article on the Butterworth family in NEHGR, Vol. 41, p. 194. Based on James and Sarah Paddock naming one of their two sons Joseph, it is assumed that the daughter of Joseph is the one who married James Paddock, and then later James Leonard.
