    Cashier John L. Forkner, of the National Exchange Bank, of Anderson, has issued a call for the annual meeting of the Old Settlers' Association, to convene in Anderson on the 29th. The association numbers over three hundred members, and will hold a two days' session. W. P. Newman, C. W. Prather, James Mohan, J. L. Forkner, George Nichol and Samuel Hardin have been appointed as a committee on general arrangements.

    Special to the Indianapolis Journal. ANDERSON, Ind., Aug. 27. Old settlers of this county held their annual meeting in Ruddell's Grove, north of this city, today. Following the address of welcome by Mayor Dunlap, Mrs. Lucinda Harden presented the association with a historic gavel made from tho first apple tree planted in the county. Byron H. Byson, of this city, responded to the address of welcome and also responded to Mrs. Harden's brief speech. Then followed music and ten-minute talks from old timer's. The annual election was as follows: President, Samuel Harden; secretary, John L. Forkner; treasurer, David Conrad.
