Sally Lou (Maize) Sefrit, 93, passed from life to eternal life in Heaven with God, on April 1, 2019, at Boone County Hospital, Columbia, MO. Born April 5, 1925 in Kirksville, MO. She leaves behind her son, Dr. James (Susan) Sefrit of Weldon Spring, MO, daughter, Jenny (Terry) Nichols of Columbia, granddaughter, Janna (Scott) Bailey of Chesterfield, MO, grandson, Dr. Jason (Tanya) Sefrit of St. Peters, MO, granddaughter, Kimberly (Brandon) Imhoff of Columbia, and granddaughter, Stephanie Nichols of Columbia.
She was blessed with seven wonderful great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Emma, Betsy, and Harrison Bailey, Jackson and James Sefrit, Laityn and Maizie Imhoff. Also surviving are Sally’s nephews, Gary (Daisy) Grossnickle of Columbia, John (Mary) Grossnickle of Kirksville, MO, and her niece, Rebecca Rose Grossnickle Bunch of Kirksville.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Eugene Sefrit, her parents, Jack and Ola Maize, infant brother Jurney Edward Maize, her infant son, Jeffrey Eugene Sefrit, and her sister, Sarah Rose Grossnickle and brother-in-law, G. E. “Shag” Grossnickle.
Sally graduated from Kirksville High School in 1943, and married Donald Eugene Sefrit on August 28,1943. They were married only months shy of their 50th wedding anniversary before Donald’s death, March 24,1993. During their many years in Kirksville, Sally worked at JC Penney, Kirksville Cable Company, and KIRX Radio; she later worked at AB Kelley Motors and Mallory Transfer during the years they resided in Moberly, MO.
Sally knew Jesus as her Savior and Lord and she had a rich impact on all who knew her. She tirelessly worked to help others and those who knew her as “Mom,” “Mother,” “Grandma Sally,” “GG,” “Aunt Sally,” and “friend,” will miss her greatly.
Funeral arrangements are through Million and Taylor of Moberly, MO. Her family graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Moberly on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.. Pall Bearers are Jim Sefrit, Terry Nichols, Jason Sefrit, Scott Bailey, Brandon Imhoff, Jackson Sefrit, James Sefrit, and Harrison Bailey. Honorary Pall Bearers are Gary Grossnickle, John Ben Grossnickle, John Andrew Grossnickle, Christian Bunch, and Curtis Bunch.
