MENDS HOSE Ruth Finnegan, of 500 Hickory street, Anaconda, Mont., was right up on her toes when silk stockings became precious. She knew that people would be taking better care of the ones they had, and that many would wear mended hose. So she marched out and found a few people who would let her mend runs in their hose for five cents each. Ruth has quite a few customers now, has made several dollars which she invested in War Stamps, and expects to have an even bigger business as she goes along. She charges less than stores do, and tries hard to please her customers. We think Ruth is doing a good job in aiding with the war effort, as well as earning money, and we've sent her this week's prize of $1.00 in War Stamps for submitting her idea.
