He appears in the one known portrait of leading stud Bonnie Scotland, who spent the last decade of his life on the farm. He appears in press at the time as an expert in horses, including as a guide to President Cleveland when he visited the farm.

Bob left $100 and his saddle to his grandson Robert, $100 to his daughter Mackie's youngest two children by her husband, and $100 to his daughters Mary Jane Kiser and Ella Green. He left his house to his wife Ellen, with it going to his daughters Sallie and Mackie after his death.
