From: History of Stephen Township by Susan Muriel Mack: p. 20, "By 1848, most of the land on Concessions 2 and 3 had been chose n. Henry Cain, William Reilly and James and Richard McPeak had locat ed on Concession 2. These were the first of the Irish Catholic Famili es to settle in the southern part of the township." (Medical):From Saginaw Daily Courier, Wednesday, July 15, 1868: "Effects of the heatf - A laborer while at work shoveling sand on the Dock in Saginaw City, yesterday forenoon, was so affected by the heat that he fainted, and at present lies in precarious condition. Since writing the above, several deaths have occurred in this city from Sun stroke." References
