Rebecca Ann Splitstone
Rebecca Ann Splitstone was the youngest daughter of Peter and Mary Peck, and was born March 6, 1851, at Niles, Michigan. She died at her home in this city Friday, March 12, 1926, at the age of 75 years and six days.
When a small child she came with her parents, three brothers and two sisters to Newaygo and later on they moved to this locality. In 1866 she was married to Thomas Splitstone and to this union nine children were born, twins dying in infancy. Her husband passed away about seven years ago. The remaining children are Mrs. Minnie Reed of Baldlin, Mrs. Edith VandenBerg of Grand Rapids, Leslie of Marillay and Virgil, Allen, Roy and Ray of Fremont. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Mary Reynolds of Big Rapids, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mrs. Splitstone was for many years a member of the Fremont United Brethren Church.
The funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Methodist church and were in charge of the pastor, Rev. H.W. Ellinger. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
