    Mr. Phil Van Weerdhuizen, age 85 of Lynden, went to be with his Lord on Monday, Nov. 22, at St. Joseph Hospital. Phil was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on January 22, 1919 the son of Gerrit and Jennie (Polman) Van Weerdhuizen. He grew up in Holland and was married there to Nell Van Poelgeest on May 14, 1947. In 1952 they moved to the Lynden area where Phil began a career in sheet metal fabrication. He was employed by Van's Sheet Metal which is now the Andgar Corporation and worked there for more than twenty-five years. He also operated a small dairy and beef farm. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Lynden and also enjoyed woodworking and jigsaw puzzles. Mr. Van Weerdhuizen demonstrated his Christian faith by his willingness to help others; he was known as 'Mr. Fix-it'. He was a prayer warrior and loved his Lord and family. Phil is survived by his loving wife Nell; children Jane and husband Dennis Smith of Bothell, Nellie and husband Marlin VanderKooi of Lynden, Gerrit and wife Tami Van Weerdhuizen of Everson and Kenneth and wife Christin Van Weerdhuizen of Nasuli, Bukidnon, The Philippines; seventeen grandchildren; sister Grace Honcoop of Lynden and numerous other relatives. He was also preceded by sister Pearl Byeman and brother Herman Van Weerdhuizen.
