Will Extract of Peter Lowber
- I, Peter Lowber of Kent County, Delaware, in the territories of Pennsylvania, second day of April 1698 (Probated May 2, 1698).
- Wife Gartre, To my beloved wife Gertere Loper, 1/2 of land I now dewll on and all plantation and housing on it ant the benefit thereon during her life...
- To my son Michael, the other half, after my wife's decease the other half to return to my son Michael Loper and the the moveable estate, my Will is that my said wife shall sell so much as will buy her a man servant.
- He then mentions his other heirs: daughter Mary Nichols, Widow; daughter Margaret Paradee: daughter Gartre Loper; Son Michael Loper all carpenter tools etc., and 2 cows and 2 calves to be delivered.

Land Records
From "Virden and Allied Families in Delaware":
Peter Lowber came from Amsterdam, Holland to America in 1677. In 1684 he patented near Rising Sun, Delaware, a tract of land. harf's History of Delaware says on page 1162; "At the Head of Double-Run branch near Magnolia, Delaware, is a tract of land lying partly in South Murderkill Hundred called 'Amsterdam'. It was taken up by Henry Johnson March 16, 1680 - 200 acres and sold to Peter Lowber ca. 1683. He named it 'Amsterdam'. Kent County deed book 'B', pg. 43. On January 15, 1684, Peter Lowber bought 121 acres part of 'The plains' laid out for Robert Bedwell. Peter Lowber also owned 158 acres of land called 'Lowbers Fancy'. He brought with him from Holland a grandfathers clock made of pine. This clock is still running and in the possession of Herbert Reynolds, a descendant.
