Our travelling correspondent writes: The late Mr. Patrick Kelly, whose death occurred on Saturday last at Hobart, was born in the County of Mayo, Ireland, on June 29, 1846. He landed at Hobart on Friday, February 5, 1865, having transhipped from the Golden Fleece at Williamstown. The same afternoon he travelled to Richmond, where he stayed overnight at the Bridge Hotel. Proceeding by the mail cart of the late Mr. P. Cusick's (senior) next day, he reached Runnymede. He immediately found employment there at farm work, under the late Mr. Edward Chancellor, who was overseer of the Runnymede Estate, at that time owned by the late Mr. Askin Morrison. On June 3, 1874, Mr. Kelly was married to Miss Sarah Ann Hewitt, of Richmond, and had as issue, 10 children, nine of whom are living, one son (Patrick) having made the supreme sacrifice in the Great War. As a farmer, the deceased did great work in the pioneering of the Woodsdale and Levendale districts, but as a skin buyer and general dealer in Southern Tasmania, he became more widely known. Upon his retirement some years ago, he took up his residence at Hobart.
