    Merna Mae Minor, 74,died peacefully after a short but courageous battle with cancer in herEllensburg home on Nov. 27, 2002. She was surrounded by her loving family.
    She was born May 5, 1928in Gordon, Neb., the daughter of William H. Engel and Pearl L. Engel. She movedwith her family in 1943 to Ellensburg. She and Floyd “Buck” Minor were marriedon July 4, 1948, in Coeur ‘d Alene, Idaho.
    Merna was a wonderfulhomemaker. She and Buck raised six children together on the family ranch inEllensburg. Those who knew and loved Merna know what a devoted family personshe was. Her favorite things were centered around her family. Caring forgrandchildren and watching their many activities where some of her mostenjoyable moments. Merna loved the holidays, special events and visits thatbrought her in contact with her loved ones. She built and left her family withso many fond memories that will always be treasured.
    Merna was preceded indeath by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Buck, ofEllensburg; children: Mike, Pat, Brent (Mary), Troy (Kelly), Rose (Fred)Slyfield and Marla (Ed) Williams; grandchildren: Bill, Jason, Brady, Riley,Bailey, Jake, Annie-Mae Minor and Hunter and Spencer Slyfield; siblings:Virginia (Lester) Kling of Gordon, Neb., Ann Scott of Brush Prairie, Bob (Bev)Engel of Everett, Bill (Kay) Engel and Tom (Wanda) Engel of Ellensburg.
    Services will be held at11 a.m. Dec. 3 at the First Lutheran Church in Ellensburg. Burial will followat the IOOF Cemetery in Ellensburg.
    The family asksmemorials be made in Merna’s name to Hospice Home Care of Kittitas Valley.
    Steward and Williams isin charge of arrangements.
