At Lima, Wis., Oct. 31st, 1877, Mrs. Mariett Harington, wife of Solomon Harington, and daughter of Silas and Sarah Palmeter, aged 56 years, 8 months, and 29 days. When quite young, she united with the 1st Alfred Church, of New York. She moved West with her parents in 1840, and was married in the following year. For the past twenty years, Mrs. Harington had not been well, and for the past four years, had not been free from pain, which was frequently intense. Still she was quite active in attending to her household duties until within the past year. The deceased possessed in a very high degree the Christian graces of cheerfulness and patience under the most severe and protracted bodily suffering. She was never known to murmur nor complain, nor speak ill of others, but always had a kind and cheery word for everyone, even when racked by pain. She remained faithful until death in the observance of the Sabbath in a community where she was compelled to do so almost alone. Her numerous First-day friends, as well as her own family, respected her the more for her fidelity to her religious convictions. She has left behind a fond husband and three sons to mourn her departure. The funeral was attended by a large number of sympathizing friends. The family feel their loss deeply, for she was a sunbeam and a joy in her home even to the last. She had full faith in Christ, and her life went out as peacefully as the fading twilight. E. M. D.
