    Jaques Cortelyou was b. Dec. 25, 1707 (MS. Surveying Book). Evidently Bergen miscopied from the above source when he stated the date as Sept. 25, 1707 (ESKC, p. 25). Jaques d. "January 6, 1765, according to the New Stile" (MS. Surveying Book). He m. Mary (Marretje) _____, June 20, 1730. As MS. Surveying Book states it: "Jaques Cortelyou getrout in het Jaer 1730 D 20 Juny." Jaques wife was b. April 14, 1713, and d. June 22, 1772. Her surname is not certainly known. It is stated as Hendrick (Remin. of N. U., p. 119) and as Voorhees (T.G.B. Cortelyou Record). Jaques Cortelyou lived in New Utrecht. His (four) children were born and baptised there.
