It appears that she was born Marjorie Duclo, around 1903 or 1904, and later transformed herself into Marcella Veronica Du Clo, born May 1906. At her marriage and in the birth record of her daughter Dolores, she used the surname O'Kern, which was probably a take-off on her step-father's surname (Cairns in his marriage record and the 1920 census).
A Marcella DuClo married Albert A Mitchell in Lake, Indiana in Sep 1934.[8] Given the unusual name, it is possible that this was the same person. If so, it is not clear whether she was actually divorced from Leo Schliman at the time. Although she was not living with Leo Schliman in either the 1930 or 1940 censuses (when he was a roomer then a hotel guest), he indicated that he was married.
Whatever the nature of her relationship with Leo Schliman during the 1930s and 1940s, she was using the surname Schliman in 1967[3] and at her death[2], and was the informant (Marcella Schliman, wife) on Leo's death certificate in 1973.[7]
