Obituary taken from The Sterling Kansas Bulletin dated Nov. 11, 1904. Vol. 28 #46 p. 5 Mrs. Lydia Stockwell Miss Lydia P. Parmer was born in Jefferson Co., N.Y., May 6, 1832, and departed this life at her home in Sterling, Kansas, Nov. 6, 1904, aged 72 years and 6 months. She was left an orphan at the early age of fourteen, from which time she was obliged to make her own way in the world. She removed to Williams Co., Ohio where she was united in marriage to J.H. Stockwell, who preceded his aged and faithful companion less than a year ago. This union was blessed with eleven children--eight of whom grew to maturity and were all present at the funeral. There are thirty grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She with her family took up their residence in Kansas in the year of 1879, where she resided until her death. She was for many years a member of the U. B. Church but owing to affliction was unable to attend Divine worship. She realized that the Lord would soon call her higher , and expressed her willingness to go at any time. Funeral services were held in the U. B. Church Tuesday, November 8th, conducted by Rev. Sill. Interment in Cottonwood cemetery.
