LILLIE BEERS DIES PASSES AWAY AT HOME ON NORTH McGREGOR Was Widow of James S. Beers, Carthage Merchant--The Funeral Tomorrow Mrs. Lillie Birdie Beers, 67, a resident of Carthage the last 27 years, died at 3:40 o'clock yesterday afternoon at her home, 513 North McGregor. Mrs. Beers suffered a stroke and died suddenly while sitting in the living room of her home. She had been in ill health several years. She was born Aug. 17, 1884, in Rush Center, Kas., and came to Carthage in 1924, from Snyder, Okla. Mrs. Beers ws the widow of James S. Beers, who operated a furniture store a number of years on Lyon street. he died March 18, 1948. Surviving Mrs. Beers are a son, James L. Beers of Joplin; two daughters, Mrs. Harold Christman of Amarillo, Texas, formerly of Carthage and Mrs. Edgar Knowles of Stotts City; a brother, Ernest Doberenz of Carthage and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon afternoon at the Ulmer funeral home. The Rev. Fred W. Schmidtke, pastor of the First Methodist church, will be in charge. Burial will be in Park Cemetery in Carthage. References
