Leora Pelton, 97, of Newton, died Saturday (Feb. 5, 2000) at Presbyterian Manor.

She was born May 27, 1902, in Fostoria to Thomas Nelson and Julia (Brennan) Martin. She married Harold Pelton April 11, 1953, in Topeka. He preceded her in death in 1958.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Newton. She enjoyed flowers.

Survivors include a son-in-law, Gary K. Ash of Newton; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Lee Ash.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Presbyterian Manor Chapel with Chaplain Charles Kaufman officiating. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Topeka.

Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established with First United Methodist Church in Newton in care of the funeral home.
