Avery, Landon Hugh
Landon Hugh Avery - Pueblo Chieftain - May 22, 2001 - Landon Hugh Avery, 90, went to be with the Lord May 22, 2001. Preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Emmer Avery, and by his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Mary Lynn Avery, Pueblo; sons, Landon Lane Avery of Pueblo and Ralph L. (Carol) Terry, La Junta, Colo.; daughters, Oralea (Gary) Tensley and Linda Henson, both of Pueblo; and by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Avery was a veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart, the EAME Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars, the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He retired from CF&I after 33 years as a crane operator. He will be remembered as a very dedicated husband, father and grandfather. Visitation, 1 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Funeral service, 10 a.m. Thursday, T.G. McCarthy Rose Chapel, with interment to follow at Imperial Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice.
