    LaDeane B. Spurgeon, 84, of Pistol River, died Feb. 10, 2008, at her home of natural causes.

    A memorial service and potluck will be Saturday, Feb. 23, at Pistol River Friendship Hall. For time of service, call Redwood Memorial Chapel, (541) 469-9112.

    LaDeane Blanche Barnes Spurgeon, 84, of Pistol River died Feb. 10, 2008, at home in Pistol River.

    She was born Dec. 21, 1923, during a visit to the Ismert family home in Pistol River by her parents Orilee Clarissa Ismert and Forrest Clifton Barnes.

    She was raised in Sacramento where she married Stanley L. Spurgeon in 1948.

    Mr. Spurgeon died in 2001. In 2004 she moved back to Pistol River to make her home near her family.

    Mrs. Spurgeon made friends and spread joy wherever she went, her family said. She was involved in the Gold Beach writing club at the Biscuit Gallery, and was a member of Cape Sebastian chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, Curry Historical Society, the Pistol River Friendship Club and the Gold Beach Foursquare Church.

    Survivors include her children Donna Walker and her husband Neil, Eileen Carpenter and her husband Alvin, Mark Spurgeon and his wife Jill all of Pistol River; brother Earl Roger "Tuffy" Barnes and dear friend of 80 years Virginia Kopchak of Sacramento. Also surviving are five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

    A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Pistol River Friendship Hall, with a sharing of memories and a potluck.

    In lieu of flowers, remembrances will be welcomed to the building fund of the Gold Beach Foursquare Church, P.O. Box 475, Gold Beach OR 97444; and the Pistol River Friendship Club, P.O. Box 6092, Pistol River, OR 97444.

    Private inurnment will be at a later date, at the Pistol River cemetery.
