"Jennings, Joshua, s. of Joshua. Married Hannah Lyon, dau. of Richard, b. about 1681 [error for 1661], d. Nov. 1743 in 83 yr. (g. s., Westport). He receipted to 'mother Lyon' for his wife's portion, 17 Aug. 1688. Joshua, Sr., was bapt. at Fairfield Cong. Church, 1 June 1712.

Adm'n on his estate was granted, 31 July 1716, to widow Hannah and son Joshua. Distribution 13 Feb. 1718 to Joshua and Moses Jennings, daus. Mary Burr and Hannah Sturges, Abigail Jennings, and widow Mary Jennings [the last obviously by mistake for Hannah]. Abigail chose her brother Joshua guardian; he refused, and she chose her brother-in-law Peter Sturges. Moses chose his brother Joshua guardian. On 21 Jan. 1730/1, there being land of Joshua not inventoried, viz. the whole right of Isaac Sherwood in commons, a third of the right of Thomas Lyon in commons, and a fifth of commons which belonged to Mary Slosson sometime resident in Stamford ('mother of our father'): agreement for distribution was made by Joshua Jennings, Mary Burr, Peter Sturges and Hannah his wife, and Simon Couch and Abigail his wife, who referred to their brother Moses Jennings dec'd."
