Mrs. Josephine Brummel, age 85 of Grant,was called to her heavenly home by her Lord Wednesday morning, June 9, 2004. She was born Josephine Slachter in Kent City, the daughter of Annachein (Klaasen) and Johannes Slachter on October 25, 1918. She married Leonard Brummel Jr on June 5, 1942 in Grant, and he preceded her in death on August 15,1956. She worked as a beautician out of her home for many years until she became employed and retired from Keeler Brass. She was a member of Grant Christian Reformed Church and served her Lord at Pine Grove and Windfall Chapels. Mrs. Brummel was an inspiration to the faithfulness of her Savior to her surviving family, daughters Barbara & John VanderMeulen of Howard City, Elaine Boffing of Lansing, Mary Barrett of Wyoming, Shirley & Thomas Simpson of Scottsdale, AZ, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.

The family rejoices in receiving visitors at the McKinley Funeral Home in Grant, Thursday, 7-9 P. M. with a celebration of her homecoming held at the Grant Christian Reformed Church Friday, June 11, 10:30 A. M. with Rev. Terry Slachter officiating. Interment will be in the Chubbuck-Pinewood Cemetery near Kent City. The family requests that you consider Mrs. Brummel's firm commitment to Christian education with a donation to the Grant Christian School Tuition Assistance Fund.
