Peacefully, with his wife at his side, at Seaforth Long Term Care Home, Joseph Van Dooren, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018. In his 90 years among us, the keystones of Joe’s life were his love and dedication for family, faith, farming and a wonderful sense of humour. He will be sorely missed by all his family and friends. Predeceased by his first wife, Ann (2011), Joe will be lovingly remembered by his wife Johanna (Verberne) and his children Rita and Jim Phillips, Stratford, Laura and Jeff Patterson, Blenheim, John and Marian Van Dooren, Seaforth, Mary and Tony Vanden Hengel, Seaforth, Nancy and Gerald Jordan, Dublin, Theresa and Jerry Pemberton, Tottenham, and Diane Van Dooren and Mitch, Victoria B.C. Cherishing memories of a special Opa are 21 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Joe will also be fondly remembered by the Verberne family, including Rini and Doug, Martin and Nancy, Frank and Mary Ann, Rita and Don, Richard and Mary, Joe, and Mary and Peter. Joe’s memory will continue to be honoured by his siblings in Holland, including Zus Van Ham, Meit and Jan Van De Boom, Wim and Leis Van Dooren, Joop and Joke Van Dooren, as well as Ann’s family including the Van Beers and Van Arkel families. Along with his first wife, Ann, in faith, we trust that Joe is now reunited, in heaven, with son-in-law Tom Paterson, and siblings and siblings-in-laws in the Van Dooren, Van Beers and Van Arkel families. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to McGLYNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME , Seaforth (519-527-1390). There was no public visitation. Family and friends joined together at a Funeral Mass to celebrate our faith, and honour Joe’s life, on Monday, January 22, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 22 Victoria Street, Seaforth. A reception followed at Seaforth and District Community Centre. Spring interment in St. James Catholic Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, the family would appreciate memorial donations to Seaforth Long Term Care Home Residents Council or the Heart and Stroke Association.
