    "Will of Joseph Skinner of Hartford, 1770.

    In the name of God Amen: I Joseph Skinner of Hartford being advanced in years and under some bodily disposition etc. Imprimus I give unto mary my beloved wife one third part of my moveable Estate to be at her own Dispose forever and the Improvement of ½ the house via the west half of said house & ½ the Cellar & one third part of my barn and one third part of all my land dureing her natural life and over and above all this I give her two beds and furniture & my Side saddle. Item I give and bequeath to my eldest son Joseph 21 acres of land lying west of my home lot viz the South part of sd lot Butting east on High way west on Joseph Ensigns land South on Jacob Merrill North on my other part of sd lot also a piece of land I bought of Danl Kellogg about 6 acres Lying south of Jacob Merrells Land and the ½ of a piece of Land lying in farmington Bounds Containing about 24 acres Butting North on Country road west on Saml North also 3 acres of Land out of the southwest Corner of what I call my home lot Butting South on David Woolcuts Land Extending north as far as the N. East Corner of the Land I Bought of Capt. Kellogg and east to make the 3 acres. Item I give and bequeath unto my Second Son Stephen Skinner the remaining of my lot of which I give part to my son Joseph as before mentioned Butting East & North on Highways west Joseph Ensigns land South on Land now willed to my son Joseph also a certain Piece of Land Lying as Commonly Called the town Commons Containing about 15 acres Butting East West & South on Highways North on Land of Jacob Merrell also ½ of the Farmington lot as above mentioned which other ½ I gave by this will to my son Joseph. Item I give and bequeath to my third son Samuel Skinner the ½ of my dwelling house and Barn & the ½ of the Land adjoining thereto Except that willed to my son Joseph Butted west on Highway And Land now willed to Joseph North on Highway South on David Woolcutts Land & East on Land of Jacob Merrell Isaac Webster & Elisha Seymour via the full ½ part of the above Described Land. Item I give unto my fourth Son Jonth Skinner the other ½ of my house and Barn & land before mentioned to Samuel via the full ½ thereof. Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary the wife of Zenas Brace a Legacy of £30 money to be paid out of my Estate by my sons equally & also I give my moveable Estate after my Just Debts and funeral expenses are paid which it is my will shall be done without fraud or Delay to be equally Divided between my four Sons and I Give them three years after my Deceased to Pay the above Legacy viz £10 pr year Till Paid. And further I do Nominate appoint and ordain my beloved wife and Son Joseph to be Executrix and Executor to This my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I Set my hand and Seal this 13th day of April A. D. 1769.
