77. Joseph Molyneaux -- U.S. District Judge, District of Minnesota
On January 22, 1934, Mr. Shoemaker introduced a resolution, H.R. Res.233, authorizing the Judiciary Committee to investigate JudgeMolyneaux. The resolution was adopted and referred to the JudiciaryCommittee. 78 Cong. Rec. 1099 (1934).
When no action was taken, Mr. Shoemaker introduced another resolutionon April 20, 1934. This resolution contained impeachment chargesagainst Judge Molyneaux, and was also referred to the JudiciaryCommittee. Id. at 7060-80.
No other record regarding the disposition of these resolutions hasbeen found in primary or secondary sources. Presumably, they died incommittee.

Place: Minneapolis, Hennipin County, Minnesota USA Memo: United States District Court Judge for the District of Minnesota, Joseph West MOLYNEAUX was appointed to the U.S. District Court benchfor the District of Minnesota by President Calvin Coolidge March 18,1925. He succeeded Judge John F. McGee in the third Judgeship. He served 13 years on the Federal bench until he retired on February28, 1938 because of failing health. He presided over a mix of criminaland civil trials including cases dealing with the emergencylegislation of the great depression, Prohibition-related cases and thehighly publicized trials of W.B. Foshay. Judge MOLYNEAUX was impeached by Minnesota CongressionalRepresentative Francis Henry Shoemaker (1889-1958) in 1934. Theimpeachment was sent to the Judiciary Committee by the House butapparently died there with no further action.

W.225. This writ of error was then allowed.

- ↑ 303 9th Street, 1900 Census lists Joseph as a "boarder" with many other people (no"head of household"). I suppose this was a boarding house of somesort. All the other people are 'working' folks, servants, waitresses,etc.
Believe this address is what is now (as of Jan 2000) known as South9th Street which is right downtown. There appears to be no "9thStreet" (without directional designation) and none of the other "3039th Streets", including "9th Street SE" and "9th Street NE", have a"4th Ave" immediately nearby. Note that this part of the 1900 Censusintersperses people on 4th Avenue with those on 9th Street. - mc^2
