… Of the members of the first church council but one is still alive, namely, Mr. John Rodenburg. He left St. Mark's Church with Rev. Held, and has been an active member of our congregation for fifty long years. Few of those who were present at the first meeting are alive to-day. From 1884 till this day Mr. Rodenburg has been continuously in the church council. In 1900 he was elected the treasurer of the congregation. For the last fifteen years he has also been a regular teacher in the Sunday-school. Though 83 years of age he is, nevertheless, one of our most active and punctual members ; one who is at his post every Lord's day, unless providentially prevented. ...
