After their marriage, John and Elizabeth settled at Emberton, just east of Filgrave. They had two daughters baptised there in 1802 and 1805.

Elizabeth died in 1808, aged 35.

John survived her by over 33 years. He appears in the 1841 census living at Filgrave with his brother Daniel and working as an agricultural labourer. John died in 1842, aged 72.
