"Eggleden, John. The name is a variant of Iggleden, and John may have been a stepson of Joseph Patchen, as the two men first appear in Fairfield at about the same time. He had grant of land from town of Fairfield, 9 Feb. 1652. Inv. 20 Oct. 1659; widow and child; Nathaniel Seeley, overseer. His widow Peaceable m. (by contract July 1661) Daniel Silliman. There was some complaint about treatment of her son, and the child was apprenticed to Joseph Middlebrook, Mar. 1663/4."
