Studied medicine, graduating at Castleton Med. Coll. 1856, and afterwards resided mostly in New York City, often lecturing on hygienic subjects.
Established, 1846, and published for five years, the Ladies' Wreath, of which his wife, Mrs. Sarah T. Martyn (sister of his schoolmate, Stephen S. Smith, below), was editor.
A noted revivalist preacher, and ahead of his time in his radical advocacy of various reforms.
