Jean Wolfe Nafzinger, born Sept. 23, 1932, devoted wife of Moses L. Nafzinger, M.D. and beloved mother of Nancy Jo Carter (husband James) and Karen Nafzinger Moore (husband Thomas), died suddenly on March 21, 2004 in an automobile accident. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Thomas and Becky Carter of Grand Ledge, Mich. and Johanna and Kathryn Moore of Fairfax Station; sister, Marion Michael (husband Keith) of Bloomington, Ind.; and many other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Esther R. Bankert of Littlestown, Pa.
Jean was born in Hanover, Pa. and graduated from Littlestown High School and the Church Home and Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore, Md., where she met her husband. They worked side by side for over 40 years at their medical practice in Woodbridge. Since retiring in 1998, she has spent her time enjoying many cruises with her husband, raising her cats, quilting, playing bridge and loving her grandchildren who were the light of her life.
On Sunday, May 9 friends may visit with the family from 1 to 3 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge. A funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 10 at Christ Church in Fairfax Station. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions be made to Christ Church, 8285 Glen Eagles Dr., Fairfax Station, VA 22309; the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or to the charity of your choice.
