Tombstone: "Jane, Wife to John Gornel Aged 78 Years Dyed 4 Apryl 1678". [Birth calculates to about 1700, but she is buried next to first husband who is 11 years younger. Since she was only married to her second husband, who buried her, 7 months, there may be an error in her age?]
Will of "Jane Burge of Dorchester", dated 2 Mar 1677/78, proved 9 May 1678, mentions "husband John Burge", "my former husband John Gurnell". [As there were no children by either marriage, and she controlled a sizable estate, the will also numerous bequests to many people. See the source for a robust abstract.]
