Obituary: THE LEADER ENTERPRISE, 13 May 1897, page 5, MONTPELIER LIBRARY, MONTPELIER, OHIO. "James H. MCLain, son of William and Esther McLain, was born at Eagle Creek, Ohio, May 23, 1873. Departed this life at Cooney, Ohio, May 6, 1897. aged 23 years, 11 months, 13 days . He leaves an aged mother and father, a loving wife, two little children , a brother and one sister, and many relatives and friends to mourn the departure of their loved one. Funeral services were held from his late residence, May 8, 1897. Conducted by Rev. G.W. Long, assisted by a choir of singers . May the sorrowing ones be comforted."
