Sergeant James Lindsay of Troop B, 7th U.S. Cavalry, died at Washington, D.C., Friday of brain fever. He was born in Forfarshire, Scotland, Oct. 19, 1867, coming to this country in 1882, and enlisted in the regular army at Ft. Riley in 1892. He leave[s] an aged mother, two brothers Alex and Charles, and four sisters, Mrs. Maggie Sage, Mrs. Aggie Sage and Mrs. Hugh Hewins living near Dover. He had been sick for some time and delirious since Sept. 11th. His remains were shipped to Topeka and brought out to his brother Alex's Monday morning, where short funeral services were held. Rev. Unger of Dover made a short talk, after which the Masonic brethren took charge and held their impressive services at the house and at the Dover cemetery where he was laid to rest. It was one of the largest processions ever seen here. His stricken relatives have the heartfelt sympathy of all and they desire to extend their thanks to the friends who were so kind to them.
