    US Congressman. He attended Marietta College, Ohio, was a bookkeeper in his father's store, plus engaged in agricultural pursuits and stock breeding. He was president of the Mason County Court, (1871- 72, 1880-85) and a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1888. In 1891, he was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-second and Fifty-third Congresses, serving until 1895. Not a candidate for reelection, he was president of the Point Pleasant National Bank (1901-03) and was a fruit grower in Brevard County, Florida, until his death at age 74.
