James Birely Sr.

CAMANCHE, Iowa -- Services for James A. Birely Sr., of 1015 7th Ave., will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Camanche Chapel of the Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton, with military services by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9664, Camanche. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Birely died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1998, at his home. He was born Oct. 7, 1924, in Morrison. He married Lois Cram in 1947 in Camanche. During World War II, he served with the 306th Bomb Group in Bedford, England. Memorials may be made to Visiting Nurses Association Hospice. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Debra Determan, Camanche, and Jeanne Wilden, Clinton; sons, James A. Jr., Camanche, and Gary L., Clinton; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Riley, Morrison, Ill.; and a brother, John, Denver.
