BEERS HE PASSES AWAY TODAY AT McCUNE-BROOKS HOSPITAL He was a used Furniture Dealer--Funeral Service at 4 o'Clock Saturday James Samuel Beers, 71, used furniture dealer, died at 9 o'clock this morning in McCune-Brooks hospital, where he had been a patient since last Saturday. Mr. Beers had been in failing health the last five years and was forced to give up active work at that time. His condition became serious last Friday and the following day he was moved from his home, 513 North McGregor to the hospital. He was born March 1, 1877, in McDonald county, Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. Beers came here 24 years ago from Snyder, Okla., and had made this their home since. Mr. Beers and his brother-in-law, E.E. Doberenz, operated the used furniture store at 213 Lyon street. Surviving Mr. Beers are his wife, Mrs. Birdie Doberenz Beers, two daughters, Mrs. Harold Christman of Carthage and Mrs. Alma Knowles, Reeds route 1; a son, James Lee Beers, Carthage and seven grandchildren. Their eldest child, George Beers, died March 22, 1923. Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Ulmer funeral home, with the Rev. R.H. Bodine, pastor of the First Methodist church, in charge. Burial will be in Park cemetery. References
