Paitsell, Jacob - entered service 1777 at Rees Tavern, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, in 3rd Pennsylvania Regiment; applied for Pension in Botetourt County, Virginia in 1828 when William Crump made affidavit in Bedford County, Virginia for soldier, witnessed by Anthony Evans & William Crump; William Shrewsbury then County Justice of the Peace, Bedford County, Virginia; Leroy Jordan made affidavit there in 1829, resided Chambliss Store; soldier resided 1829 in Botetourt County, Virginia, per County Justice of the Peace Charles Whitely; Thomas Fowler made affidavit there in 1830 that he knew soldier for many years; soldier granted Pension there in 1833 abt. age 72; died 11/4/1840; married Fall of 1788 to Mary Cashman (Marriage Bond 12/8/1790 between soldier & Mary Kershman, signed by Peter Myers & witnessed by Leakin D. Peddicord), Berkeley County, Virginia, per certificate 1844 by that County Clerk of Court Harrison Waite; eldest child Sarah born 6/1790; widow had daughter Sarah by soldier before her marriage to soldier per affidatit by widow's son Martin, witnessed by Harriet Paitsell (no kinship given) in 1844, Franklin County, Virginia; County Justice of the Peace then Patrick Hix & County Court Clerk Moses G. Cooper; widow granted Pension 1844 in Franklin County, Virginia, abt. age 79; John S. Hale & Moses G. Booth County Justices of the Peace there then; widow granted Bounty Land Warrant #24982 there in 1855 age 90, application for Bounty Warrant witnessed by Harriett Paitsell & Eliza Ann Paitsell (both no kinship given), per County Justice of the Peace Robert Rush & County Court Clerk Robert A. Scott. F-W3858, R1862.
