  Montpelier -- Howard D. Richard, 56, of 304 Mill St., Montpelier, died at 7:15 p.m. Monday in the Bryan Community Hospital, where he had been a patient four days.
  A self-employed trucker, he was a native of Quincy, Mich., and a member of the local First United Methodist Church.
  Survivors are the widow, Helen; one daughter, Mrs. Albert (Norma Jean) Heaton, West Unity; two grandchildren, Valeria Ruth and Danny Gene Heaton; two brothers, Robert Richard, Camden, Mich., and Rex Richard, Beaufort, S.C.; and three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Pike, Fort Wayne, Ind., Mrs. Ray Huber, New Port Richey, Fla., and Mrs. Jane Hays, route 1 Montpelier.
  Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday from the Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Adams, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.  Internment is to be in Riverside Cemetery.
  The family will receive friends in the funeral home after 7 p.m. Tuesday.
  Preferred memorials are to the Williams County Cancer Society.
